Quirce, Returned by the Flames is a Boss in Blasphemous. Quirce, Returned by the Flames conjures the flames of the Miracle and uses it to his advantage to quickly eliminate its foes. Bosses are special Enemies that are uniquely named and must be defeated in order to unlock new areas, to progress the game, and to obtain unique gear.

Strategy Writeup
Quirce is considered as the most agile boss you can encounter. He is able to leap, teleport, and dance around the arena causing you to get confused. Despite having fast attacks, his recovery time for each attack is what you need to look out for since it gives you the opportunity to attack him or heal up before he telegraphs his next attack. Keep moving and do not stay in one place unless you need to for certain attacks, if you are caught within Quirce's attacks, it deals multiple damages and it will be difficult to recover from it.
It is recommended to have the following Rosary Beads equipped, Piece of a Golden Mask and Quirce's Scorched Bead grants you extra defense against fire-based attacks.
If you defeat the boss you will see the writing "REQUIEM AETERNAM" upon the screen and rewards you with 11250 as well as unlocking the Trophy/Achievement: Ashes to Ashes.

| Phase 1 | |
| Charge Attack | Quirce teleports at the side of the arena and charges for a fast forward attack. This allows him to fly towards your direction. Try to run at the end of the opposite side then jump over him to avoid getting hit, and land near him so you can follow-up a combo attack. Do not dodge away from his last position since pillars of flame will appear shortly after Quirce attacks. |
| Sword Boomerang | Quirce teleports on the ceiling and throws his sword around the perimeter of the arena. You can easily jump over it once it closes in on you, and you can also attack him a few times since you can reach him. |
| Sword Throw | Quirce clings onto the wall and charges for a brief moment before throwing his sword towards you. Simply duck until you avoid the sword and trail of flame. Once the sword gets stuck onto the other side of the wall, Quirce will teleport onto the middle of the arena, giving you an opportunity to land a couple of attacks. |
| Flaming Lunge | For this attack, Quirce charges for a brief moment where you'll see flames around him. You can land a few attacks, then block once the flames around him disappear. He'll do this attack twice so keep your finger on the block button. After the second attack, you can hit him again a couple of times. |
| Fire Slam | Quirce teleports into the air and slams down to the ground where a pillar of flame appears where he lands. Watch for his positioning then try to get up close to where he lands so you can land a few attacks once he lands onto the ground. Just make sure you're not too close to the pillar of flame. |
| Columns of Fire | Quirce teleports to where his sword is stuck and pulls it out. Once he does this, dash away to avoid getting hit by the multiple columns of fire that will appear after he pulls out his sword. Try to position yourself near the middle of the arena since, after the pillars of flame, Quirce will teleport to the middle of the arena, giving you an opening to attack him once he appears. |
| Diagonal Sword Throw | Quirce will also teleport onto the ceiling then throws his sword in a diagonal position. You'll know if he will do this attack since his sword will start to spin diagonally. After a while, it will start to head towards your direction where it will go up and down. To avoid this, stand near the middle of the arena, dodge past it and towards Quirce. You'll have a window to attack him while he's hanging onto the ceiling. |

| The Miracle's Flames | Quirce will have the same set of attacks. However, he'll be able to conjure more pillars of fire from the following attacks: Columns of Fire and Fire Slam. Do not try to attack him when he does these attacks since the pillars will cover a large area of the arena, so instead watch for his positioning and dash away to avoid getting hit by the flames. |
Quirce, Returned by the Flames Lore
Quirce was a normal human who had strong beliefs and was condemned to the stake of heresy. The inquisitors stood as witness to the burning of his body where the flames engulfed him as he cried out in pain. Despite the horrific execution, The Miracle repeatedly called out the flames until his body turned into ashes and eventually, was reborn just like a phoenix.
"The horrifying flames consumed Quirce's body as he cried out in unbearable pain. But these were not ordinary flames: they were the flames of the Miracle. The flames burned him to ashes and, before the eyes of the inquisitors, the flames brought him back, time after time, in unparalleled torture. Burning and burning again. Screaming and screaming again. Quirce, the son of the bonfires, knew what his penance was going to be."
